Watts Tower: Feb 15, 2009

We found out about Watts Tower while we were watching one of the famous game shows called "Jeopardy." Never knew or heard of such a tower, and I did some research online and immediately got very interested in it. Plus we only live 15 mins away from the tower.

So, on Feb 15, we decided to drive down to the site. There are tours on a daily basis and you can learn quite a bit about the creator of the tower, a man named Simon Rodia, a very small Italian man who single-handedly constructed the amazingly "fun" and "exciting" towers. Simon spent 33 years from 1921 to 1954 to construct the towers. Given the fact that he was already 42 years old when he decided to build the towers and that they didn't have robust equipment back then, it is truly amazing how he did all the work by himself in his spare time after work!

The towers are full of "joy" "love" and "fun." Everything about the towers made me cheerful. Highly recommended for at least one visit.
